Great start to the 2024-25 Season at Cronulla Sailing Club

Short Ocean Series
The short ocean series started off in a very light breeze, the yachts that started at start boat end were parked up and those who made it down to the pin end certainly got an advantage when the breeze filled in from the north east.
The work up to the waverider definitely helped those who had a terrible start make some gains. The breeze was 16-18knots NE, Sea Hawk first around the waverider, followed by Let's Go, White Noise & Jazz Bar, with the remainder of the yachts following shortly after. Spinnakers hoisted the yachts flew down wind towards the Bombora mark, Flash Dance made some gains closing in on the front runners of the fleet. From the Bombora mark we had tight reach to Kingsway mark then back to the Bombora mark, on the final run home we saw Sea Hawk maintain her lead, followed by Let's Go. 3rd place over line was a battle between the two Adam's designed boats with Flashdance (Adams57) reaching past, Jazz Bar (Adams10) to take 3rd over the line.
On all accounts all skippers and boats had a great day on the water, speaking to the skipper of Ambush, Chris Merfield is ecstatic with their 1st place on CBH and a 3rd on PHS, the crew have been sailing together for years. It a great way to start the season on high. Let's Go, skipper Mick flew home with their new BRO, to secure 2nd on PHS. Jazz Bar came 1st on PHS and 2nd CBH, Tony Landers was smiling from ear to ear. Happy with how his newly acquired boat is going, Tony said how good the mix of crew is and we go out just to have a good time and have fun sailing. David Klees White Noise took 3rd place on CBH.
Estuary Series
The 3 J24s and the J97 did estuary course 1. The crew of the J97 Knockabout said the enjoyed racing on the smaller tighter course as it made them work hard as a team.

Cruising Short Course
The cruising short course series had 3 starters, Seventy Seven, Endless Summer and Odyssey.
The cruising short course series sails the same courses as the above series but shorter versions of them. They did estuary course 1 short. We warmly welcome Troy to our club with his recently acquired Mount Gay 30 called Odyssey, formally known as Shaya Moya.
Troy and crew had a mad dash to make the start of the season, with boat preparations and boat work taking longer than expected. Troy and crew is a very much a family affair, purchasing the boat after his two sons under 10 did the learn to sail course with Tayla, the boys had an absolute blast learning to sail, we decided we need a family boat to keep them sailing. So this mount gay popped up as a great opportunity. We had a great day racing in our first race and can't wait for the next one.
