It is with great excitement that the International RS Tera Class Association announces that the 2025 RS Tera World Championship will be hosted by Jachetní Klub Cerná v Pošumaví on the shores of Lake Lipno in the Czech Republic, from August 3rd - 8th.

Also known as the 'South Bohemian Sea', Lake Lipno lies at 726m above sea level and is a man-made sailing haven. It is a man-made reservoir that was built between 1952 and 1959 and boasts beautiful waters that stretch 49km long and up to 9km wide. With stable westerly-to-south-westerly winds, stunning forest scenery and premium sailing club facilities, it is an ideal choice for the 2025 Worlds.

"We are extremely honoured that the International RS Tera class has chosen Lake Lipno in the Czech Republic, in the heart of Europe, to host the 2025 Class World Championship," says Event Manager Václav Brabec.

The area is celebrated for its epic sailing conditions, with average wind speeds of between 6 to 18knts, and with the venue itself known for running high-calibre events. Jachetní Klub Cerná v Pošumaví hosted the RS Feva European Championships twice as well as the RS500 World Championship and Eurocup events. It has also played host to the 49er/FX and Nacra 17 Junior European Championships in June this year along with the 29er Eurocup.

"The RS Tera Worlds builds on the successful championships hosted by the Jachetní Klub Cerná v Pošumaví in previous years," explains Michal Lojka, President of the host club. "We have fond memories of the RS Feva Class Europeans which we hosted in 2016 and 2022, as well as the RS500 World Championship delivered here in 2019. We look forward to welcoming RS Tera competitors from all over the world and creating a great atmosphere for them throughout the event".

With a proven track record of delivering full racing programs and action-packed weeks on the water, Jachetní Klub Cerná v Pošumaví is an assured choice for the International RS Tera Class Association World Championship in 2025.

Petr Bríza, Chairman of the Czech RS Association, commented: "I am extremely happy for the decision of the International RS Tera Class to award the 2025 Worlds to the Czech Republic. It is an excellent reward for our long-term endeavour to develop the RS Tera Class in the Czech Republic and great motivation to do even more before the 2025 event. I believe that we will deliver an exciting event at Lake Lipno next year."

Peter Toft, International RS Tera Class Vice-Chair, highlights the importance class development during the venue selection process. "It seems to be a good fit for the class to have the 2025 event in the Czech Republic. This shows our commitment to countries that are engaging in RS Tera Class development and national regattas. The venue at Lake Lipno has the potential to be as good as or even better than the 2024 event."

After a record-breaking 2024 World Championship in Denmark, where entries sold-out more than three months in advance of the event, the International RS Tera Class are hoping for even bigger participation in 2025.

Berkeley Green, International RS Tera Class Chair, looking forward to a large number of North American entries attending the 2025 event, stated: "We are honoured that the 2025 World Championship will be hosted at Lake Lipno. After having delivered an excellent Championship in 2024 - and given the Czech venue's beauty and the enthusiasm of the organizers - we have every expectation for continued success."

The event registration, boat measurement and pre-event training activity will take place from Sunday, August 3rd to Monday, August 4th, 2025. The racing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5th through to Friday, August 8th.

The event dates have also been designed to accommodate for families who are planning to attend the 2025 RS Feva World Championship in France, from July 26th to August 1st. The International RS Tera Class have ensured there is enough time between the events for sailors to make their way to the Czech Republic venue in order to participate in both events.

The club's race area is just a five-minute sail from the beach and there are plenty of accommodation options nearby that range from campsites, AirBnBs, right up to 4-star hotels.
