Fiji's Iconic Annual Regatta Week Celebrates 40 Years

by Tourism Fiji 31 Aug 04:36 UTC 11-15 September

One of the most popular events on the Fiji calendar, the Annual Fiji Regatta Week will celebrate its 40th year when it returns to Musket Cove Island Resort and Marina next month.

Celebrating four decades of sailing, adventure, and island fun, the 2024 Week will be held 11th - 15th September with over 60 yachts expected to fill the bay, attracting yachties, families, and guests from around the globe for an unforgettable week in the heart of the South Pacific.

Marking a significant milestone for the event, this year’s regatta promises a packed schedule of both water and land-based activities, daily races, and social events including a welcome dinner, daily prizes and the legendary Pirates Day where competitors race to Beachcomber Island dressed as pirates. A highlight of the week will be the 'Party Like it’s 1982' bash on the 13th of September — a nautical-themed night featuring live music, fun games, and a vibrant atmosphere that will reflect on past regattas.

In addition to Regatta Week, Fiji remains a perfect destination for sailors year-round with 333 islands to explore, crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and breathtaking landscapes. For those planning their next sailing adventure, these are the top spots that make Fiji the perfect place to stock up on essentials, swap stories, and connect with fellow yachties:

Yasawa Islands: A stunning group of 20 volcanic islands, the Yasawa Islands are an unspoiled paradise perfect for sailors looking to go fishing, snorkelling or swimming on white sandy beaches.

Mamanuca Islands: With gentle waters, the Mamanuca Islands have numerous sheltered anchorages like Musket Cove, making it a paradise for families on sailing holidays.

Taveuni Island: With its lush landscapes, vibrant coral reefs, and rich Fijian culture, this lesser-known island offers an enriching sailing experience where you can immerse yourself in local communities.

The Lomaiviti Group: Home to some of Fiji’s best sailing, the Lomaiviti Group offers stunning natural beauty and activities like reef exploration and hiking.

Kadavu Island: Located south of Fiji’s main island, Kadavu Island, is a premier sailing spot known for its world-class diving at the Great Astrolabe Reef and rugged landscapes for an off-the-beaten-path experience.
