Join us daily as we report on some of the best of Australias coastal and inshore racing in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands.
Day one was a hurry up and wait situation, relief for all when an Easterly filled across the Whitsundays, and racing got underway at 1335 for the Rating Series divisions and Hamilton Island Blue. While the remainder of the Hamilton Island fleets, the trailer yachts, and the multihulls, got underway in Dent Passage from 1355 as the breeze built in the channel.
The Race Committee managed to change the scheduled short passage races into afternoon sprints to ensure the races could be held.
Doyle-powered Alive sitting in second place in IRC Gold, and Matador in first place and Zen in third in the IRC Black/Gold fleet.
Racing is set to continue tomorrow from 11.00am across all courses, and the southeasterly trade winds set to build for the rest of the week.
