An emotional farewell was given to Lucy Jameson at the closing ceremony of the RS Feva World Championships 2024, in Bruinisse, Netherlands, as she completed her final event as RS Feva International Class Secretary.

An RS Feva super-mum of two, her boys Rupert and Henry raced in both the RS Tera and RS Feva Classes from 2010 to 2018, winning World and European titles. On completing her final Worlds as International Class Secretary, Lucy was showered with a standing ovation and lots of kind words from the sailors, volunteers, coaches and parents during the Closing Ceremony.

"The RS Feva Worlds was a wonderfully organised event," said RS Marine Group CEO, Jon Partridge. "Lucy and the RS Feva team not only delivered a great World Championship but also a brilliant holiday for the parents and supporters. It was great racing with loads of fun had ashore too. This class proves that a youth world sailing event does not need to be a stressful event for all involved."

After seven years of running the RS Feva International Class, Lucy passes the baton onto Chrissie Le Petit.

"Lucy is an absolute star," beamed Chrissie, "her commitment to the International Class is evident in its remarkable success. I wish her the very best for her future. May it be filled with many RS Feva memories and happiness."

Chrissie already has plenty of experience as the UK Class Secretary/Admin, a role she has embraced since 2021, when her eldest daughter, Sirene, was also sailing in the RS Feva Class. "During my time in the UK class we have built up training after Covid and the class is steadily growing each year."

Chrissie worked alongside Lucy at the RS Feva Winter Championships in Weymouth 2021 and it was an instant connection. "Lucy has always been there if I needed any support or had any questions that cropped up along the way." Following in her footsteps, Chrissie has taken on the International Role as of August 2024.

As Lucy hands over to Chrissie, she'd like to thank everyone who has been involved in the RS Feva community over the years. "Each and every sailor, coach, and family member I have had the immense pleasure of meeting has touched my heart," Lucy reminisced. "I've made the most wonderful friends in you all and witnessed World and European Champions being crowned, including my own son. I've watched your sailors experience the highs and lows of these epic events. I've made, and sadly lost, some true lifelong friends, and I've loved and enjoyed every moment."

While she steps down as RS Feva Secretary, Lucy's RS Sailing journey doesn't end there. She continues to work as RS Marine Group HR Manager at the company's HQ in Romsey. "Choosing that little RS Tera as the boat for our children was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Working with the RS classes has shaped me into the person I am today and afforded me the amazing opportunities I have in my role as HR Manager with RS."

And as for the International RS Feva Class, there's plenty of excitement ahead with a whole host of event listing on RS Sailing Club and the 2025 World Championships provisionally announced for 26th July to 1st August at Lake Bourget in France.

The RS Feva Class is the fastest growing double-handed youth class internationally, recognised by the global governing body of the sport, World Sailing. It is also an accredited RYA British Youth Sailing Junior Class. The future of youth racing is in the RS Feva Class. Head to the RS Feva International Class association website to find out how you can get involved.
