Good things come to those who wait... Although Day 2 of the RS500 World Championship began with millpond conditions, after a hot morning waiting for the wind, the RS500 fleets finally set sail at 4pm with a decent afternoon sea breeze.
The race committee pushed a strong race out of what was left of the day and all sailing groups had the opportunity to send it on the trapeze with some downwind spinnaker action. Qualifiers will roll into Day 3, with the promise of three (maybe four) races with a more promising weather forecast.
The top three are still at the top of the table. GBR's Tim and Heather Wilkins of Gurnard Sailing Club have moved into the lead, with Day 1's leaders, CZE's Jakub and Tereza Dobry of TJ Lokomotiva Plzenknown swapping into second place. NED's ex-Olympic 49-er sailor, Pim van Vugt of Vugt Sail, and sister Lisa van Vugt, hold their position in third.

After racing, the teams swapped wetsuits and rash vests for traditional garments to showcase their home countries at the International Party Night. With ten nations in total, there was everything from Scottish kilts to vibrant Czech kroje, Swedish schnapps to Pimms in the British tent. Wanting to make the most of Day 3, the party wound down around 11pm so everyone could be fresh for the morning.
