Translated 9 made its mark in the Pacific Cup. The Swan 65, skippered by legendary Paul Cayard and crewed by veterans, novices, and people from the tech and localisation industry arrived 1st in the PHRF 4 class, 2nd in the PHRF class with 51 teams competing and 4th in the overall ranking among 64 yachts racing in the renowned regatta from San Francisco to Hawaii. Translated 9 crossed the finish line in Kaneohe on Saturday, July 27th at 12:45 pm.

After earning the prestigious 'Spirit of the OGR Award' in the Ocean Globe Race 2023, where Translated 9 won the first two legs, creating a milestone for Italian sailing and demonstrating values of passion, commitment, resilience, positive thinking, courage, and an unwavering never-give-up mindset, the sailing boat owned by Translated—the translation company co-founded by Marco Trombetti and Isabelle Andrieu —decided to face this new Pacific challenge, offering people from the tech and localization industry a unique opportunity to embark on a memorable adventure.

Selected from among 700 people who have taken part in the training offered by Translated in the San Francisco Bay over the past three years and led by 7-time world champion Paul Cayard, a crew of 11 people set sail from California to face 2000 nautical miles in the deep blue. As in every ocean voyage, the crew had to face the unpredictable, such as encountering a big whale that shook the 65-foot yacht. The crew, racing together for the first time but driven by the same values and passion for adventure, immediately found camaraderie and created a deep bond. They not only enjoyed the regatta and the fascinating relationship with the majesty of nature but also supported each other with perfect team spirit, giving it their all, and contributing to the success of this new Translated 9 endeavour.

"The Translated 9 project has been great. I think what Marco and Isabelle are doing, not only in terms of encouraging but also welcoming people to be part of the journey, is truly amazing. A big part of this is the people involved. I feel really blessed to be with folks that I can learn from. Translated has allowed that experience for me, and I'm very grateful," said Jitendra Kavathekar, Technology Executive and former Salesforce Global VP and GM, and Translated 9 crew member.

The other crew members aboard Translated 9, led by skipper Paul Cayard in this epic race, are Danny Cayard; Teresa Marshall from the localisation industry; Ocean Globe Race veterans Baptiste Gillot Devillers and Lana Coomes, winner of the OGR aboard Maiden; Alex Dailey and Jason Chan from the Bay Area; Kelly Gregory and Patrick Haesloop, artists and architects; and Translated 9 US captain Jonathan Hammond.

"It's been a fantastic ride," Skipper Paul Cayard explained. "2000 miles downwind sailing with big waves and consistent winds. Sailing into the sunset, while the climate goes from chilly to tropical, day by day. Sailing doesn't get better than this! As for the crew, we picked up some good friends from the world of Translated— mixed with sailing veterans, and built a solid team. They all did a great job. We battled for the lead in the 64 boat fleet for the entire 10 days. We were focused, we pushed hard, and we had a successful result. A big thank you to Marco and Isabelle for this special opportunity."

The adventure of Translated 9 does not end here. Translated's vision is to surround itself with extraordinary people, capable of going beyond their limits, with whom to face increasingly greater challenges that others deem impossible. Marco Trombetti has many ideas for the future of this project, and new ocean sailing training sessions with Paul Cayard are already scheduled for the fall season in San Francisco.

"The success of Translated 9 is rooted in our belief in the strength of community and the relentless pursuit of our dreams," Marco said. "This journey isn't just about reaching a destination; it's about evolving through every challenge we face. We will continue to expand this project, creating spaces where people can embrace challenges, learn from them, and emerge stronger. We aim to inspire and be inspired, fostering growth through bravery, positive thinking, and a never-give-up attitude. Together, we sail forward with courage and optimism, building a better future."
