On the weekend of September 14th and 15th 2024, The Chase Sailing Club will become a bustling hub of competitive sailing as it hosts the Lightning National Championships and Devoti D-Zero Sailing Open. This exciting event is set to draw top sailors from across the country, all vying for victory in a challenging six-race series.

The championship weekend promises to be a spectacle of skill and strategy, featuring two distinct classes: the Lightning and the D-Zero. Each class will have a rigorous schedule of races, with four races planned for Saturday and two on Sunday, totalling six races to determine the champions.

Saturday will kick off the competition with a quartet of races. Sailors will need to be at their best from the very start, as the four-race format ensures that consistency and stamina will play fundamental roles. The weather conditions on Chasewater can be unpredictable, adding an extra layer of complexity to the races. Competitors will need to be sharp at reading the winds and making split-second decisions to stay ahead of their rivals.

Following a demanding Saturday, Sunday's races will be crucial for those in contention for the championship. With just two races on the final day, there will be limited opportunities to make up ground. Every manoeuvre, every tack, and every gust of wind will count to secure a place on the podium.

The Lightning Nationals and D-Zero Open offer a fantastic opportunity to witness top sailing in an idyllic setting. The Chase Sailing Club, with its welcoming atmosphere and excellent facilities, is the perfect venue for this amazing event. The club's location is situated in the Chasewater Country Park and provides a beautiful backdrop for a weekend of thrilling sailing.

The Lightning Nationals and D-Zero Sailing Open at The Chase Sailing Club promise an unforgettable experience. Mark your calendars for September 14th and 15th and book your place early to benefit from the early bird discount.
