GSC 2027 Presentation and Press Conference at the RCNV © Global Solo Challenge

Tuesday July 23rd at 12:30 I am excited to invite you to the Real Club Náutico de Vigo for the presentation of the 2027-2028 edition of the Global Solo Challenge from its new host city of Vigo and its new host port and partner, the Real Club Náutico de Vigo.

The RCNV will be represented by its President and its Commodore with the attendance of representatives of local and regional authorities and entities including the Concello de Vigo, the Xunta de Galicia, the Diputación de Pontevedra, the Autoridad Portuaria de Vigo, the Armada Española, the Agencia Turismo de Galicia, the Real federación Gallega de Vela, the Cofradía Europea de la Vela as well as members of the press and of the public.

This presentation marks an important milestone in the development of the Global Solo Challenge following the success of the first edition which saw a tremendous following, especially online, gathering interest from around the world. The move to Vigo will offer the opportunity to establish a closer involvement with the host city and community as well as greater participation in person from the public thanks to the naturally protected waters of the Ria de Vigo, sheltered by the Islas de Cìes, which will offer an ideal location to stage departures and arrivals in all weather conditions. Moreover, Vigo is situated on the west coast of Galicia and south of the difficult waters around Cape Finisterre, with its busy shipping lanes and notorious wind acceleration reducing the dangers for the skippers dealing with the delicate initial and final stages of their voyage.

We are looking to develop a strong bond with the Real Club Náutico de Vigo and the City of Vigo with its rich nautical heritage and the great enthusiasm shown already in hosting the event which we think will be develop naturally and organically for the benefit of all those involved.

The event at the RCNV is open if you wish to attend. Check our social media channels for updates, we may be able to broadcast the event live or provide photos and updates near-live. Don't miss out!
