Sailors from all over the UK and other international locations have now arrived at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) for the ACO 13th Musto Skiff World Championships, which is happening over 14th to 20th July.

The event starts on Sunday with a one-day pre-Worlds before five days of racing from Monday to determine the World Champion Title. The class has also now confirmed their social schedule for the week and announced that they have once again partnered with SailRacer to provide live GPS Tracking of all races.

Planned social schedule for the 2024 Worlds

Three social events are organised at WPNSA for the regatta, including a Welcome Ceremony on Monday 15th, a BBQ on Tuesday 16th, and a Gala Dinner on Friday 19th. This year, the class will also be joined by two sailing legends at their Gala Dinner, including British yachtsman Pete Goss MBE, who will attend as a guest speaker, and former Olympic sailor and Musto clothing founder, Keith Musto OBE, who is attending as a special guest.

Pete Goss is renowned for his incredible sailing career, which has taken him over 300,000 nautical miles across the globe. From his extraordinary rescue of fellow competitor Raphael Dinelli in the 1996 Vendée Globe to his many remarkable stories of the highs and lows of solo sailing, the Musto Skiff class is in for a great evening at their Gala Dinner later in the week.

The guest speaker was arranged for the class by Event Title Sponsor ACO Group, who will be at the 2024 Worlds this week with some guests to watch the racing. Class Title Sponsor Musto will also be attending to support the international fleets and mark their '60 Years of Musto' celebrations. This will include a Musto stand at the event to showcase their latest technical clothing for sailors.

Live GPS Tracking with SailRacer

To bring the event to the global stage, the class has once again teamed up with SailRacer to provide live GPS tracking of all the Musto Skiff races at Weymouth and Portland. The link will be live for the pre-Worlds on Sunday 14th July, and then every race day thereafter for the full Championship.

The SailRacer GPS tracking link here is free to access with no account sign in needed. (For the best experience, view the link on a laptop or PC device.)

SailRacer will broadcast the racing and leaderboard places in real-time via their online platform, as well as providing the option to view completed races again on replay.

Races are planned to start at 1.00pm (BST) each race day, and will be based on the following schedule:

Practice Races - 2024 Pre-Worlds

  • Sunday 14th July - 1 Day (2 races)

Championship Races - 2024 Worlds

  • Monday 15th July - Race Day 1 of World Championship (3 races)
  • Tuesday 16th July - Race Day 2 of World Championship (3 Races)
  • Wednesday 17th July - Lay day (flexible based on weather conditions)
  • Thursday 18th July - Race Day 3 of World Championship (3 races)
  • Friday 19th July - Race Day 4 of World Championship (3 races)
  • Saturday 20th July - Race Day 5 of World Championship (2 races) (Prize-giving)

This race schedule may be subject to change. The latest information for the event schedule can be found on the official notice board on the WPNSA website here.

International Class Chairman, Danny Boatman, said: "We've done a lot of work as a committee alongside the organising team at WPNSA to put this Worlds event together, and our sponsors, ACO Group and Musto have also been really supportive and involved in the event, which has been great. It's brilliant to see everyone arriving and the excitement building around the boat park already. It's a good opportunity to all come together as a class and see our friends from the international fleets. I will be heading out with a few of them this afternoon to get in some last-minute training!"

Race results and daily videos will also be published each day on the class Facebook page and reports will be available via the class website and sailing media.
