The celebrated Anglesey Offshore Dinghy Race, inaugurated in 1965, is set to return for its 56th edition on August 18th as a highlight of the 2024 Allen Endurance Series.
Hosted by Red Wharf Sailing and Watersports Club this sailing challenge navigates from Beaumaris to Traeth Bychan, passing through the Menai Straits and Puffin Island sound, with a turning point off Moelfre. The course spans over 15 nautical miles for monohulls and up to 30 miles for catamarans.
Monohull dinghies with a Portsmouth Yardstick Number (PY) of 1150 or lower and Multihulls with a PY of 926 or lower are eligible. Entries with a PY of below 900 will qualify for entry to the Allen Endurance Series.
The race attracts a diverse group of participants, including Olympic sailors, former and current National Champions, and family racers from the many local clubs.
Further details and the entry page are available at www.redwharfbaysc.co.uk/anglesey-offshore-dinghy-catamaran-race and if you have any questions in advance, especially about boat logistics, please do mail our race manager . The entry fee includes a mid-afternoon post-race hot meal in the club before you set off on your way home.
This year we are proud to be supporting the RNLI All Hands on Deck campaign.
We are looking forward to welcoming new and returning racers to this iconic event.
