Live Ocean Racing and the talent-stacked ETF26 fleet took to Lake Garda early today for the penultimate day of Foiling Week 2024, chalking up six races in a bid to catch-up on light air cancellations over the opening two days.

It was a mixed bag of results for the New Zealand team with their best a 3rd place in race five.

Skipper Liv Mackay describes the morning session; “We did three this morning starting in some pretty good conditions, into a dying breeze with a reef in which was pretty challenging.

“The afternoon session – we went out and waited for wind for a long time but found a small patch of wind that we could sail in which was good.

Mackay and the team are optimistic after the long day on the water and looking forward to tomorrow’s racing; “Quite a lot of positives to take from the day. We’re looking to be a lot more aggressive going into tomorrow. There’s only one session of racing in the morning – hopefully we can fit five races in. It should be quite windy and fun.”

The Live Ocean Racing 2024 team features Liv Mackay, Leonard Takahashi and Oscar Gunn sailing in a three-up configuration. As a separate sister entity to marine conservation charity Live Ocean Foundation, the Live Ocean Racing team proudly carries the Live Ocean brand showcasing the message of ‘a healthy ocean for a healthy future’ as they race on the world stage at events like this one.

Seasoned French entry Enterprises du Morbihan has the overall lead after today’s racing claiming a pair of wins and never finishing outside the top three. The Rockwool Denmark boat with Nicolai Sehested driving is very close behind them, just one point adrift going into the final day.

Racing will commence early again tomorrow for the final day of Foiling week with an 0800 start for the ETF26 fleet in Lake Garda, Italy.
