Knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay and its light, shifty winds paid off for local sailors this weekend in the Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series - Annapolis, as winners in 15 classes call the area home.

Bell Carty, of Annapolis, Maryland, owner of the Harbor 20 Puffin, won the regatta's Sportsmanship Award for her efforts to coordinate the Harbor 20 fleet's first year of participation in the Regatta Series.

Cate Muller-Terhune, of Annapolis, owner of the J/70 Casting Couch, won the 25-boat class and was selected as the regatta's overall winner, which earns her team the Annapolis berth at the Caribbean Championship in the British Virgin Islands, hosted by Sunsail in October. Terhune and her team will race the top team selected from each of the five stops of the Regatta Series, and the defending Champion, Cedric Lewis, who also is from Annapolis.
