The 16th edition of the Taittinger Royal Solent Yacht Club Regatta is already attracting a mixture of repeat and new competitors for a weekend of racing and socialising in and around Yarmouth, Isle of Wight on Friday 12 - Sunday 14 July with over 100 entries confirmed in the first two weeks of the event's online registration opening.
With a substantial earlybird discount available for entries before 31 May, the competitor list is growing daily.
The Taittinger Royal Solent Yacht Club Regatta's successful combination of professionally organised racing and a busy and varied schedule of onshore, social events ensure, once again, that the weekend will attract the entertaining mix of racing crews and non-racing, shore-based family and friends.
On the water, Black and White Groups include Folkboat, XOD, YOD, IRC classes, NHC classes, Contessa 32, J109 and J111 divisions, with the fleet of Classic Cruisers particularly popular this year with the British Classic Yacht Club Regatta running in Cowes the week following the Taittinger RSYC Regatta.
On shore, events open with the Champagne Taittinger Reception on the RSYC's waterfront lawns at 18.30 on Friday; on Saturday afternoon, local suppliers Wightwood Pizza will be baking at the yacht club and on Saturday evening at 20.30, the unmissable Towers Party will feature live music, fireworks and a selection of bars and refreshment.
For 2024, there is a boost to the sponsors' prize draws for regatta competitors. In its charity prize draw, Champagne Taittinger will be giving away a flight in the Taittinger hot air balloon and a Champagne picnic, along with the usual trio of Champagne Taittinger magnums.
For the fourth year, the Edelweiss & Gurgl Hotel will hold its popular prize draw for the winning boats in each class featuring a seven-night stay for two guests at their luxury hotel in the Ötzal Alps, Austria; and the event's supporting, local sponsor Wight Marine will be supplying a marine hardware prize in their draw.
Over the past 15 years, the Taittinger Royal Solent Yacht Club Regatta has provided entertainment in weather conditions that have ranged from mill pond-calm to churning, near-gale conditions, but whatever the weather brings, Champagne Taittinger, the RSYC and the event's supporting sponsors look forward to welcoming you to Yarmouth in July.
