A high over the Bight extends a ridge across southwest and east NSW. It will strengthen and move slowly eastward over the coming days.

On Tuesday on the entire coast (except for Byron) there will be seas of 1 metre to 1.5 m and southerly swells of 1.5 to 3 metres.

BOM is warning that conditions may be more powerful than they appear and are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.

Swell period

Swell period will be 14 to 17 seconds.

Dangerous conditions for Tuesday 26 March now extended to Wednesday 27 March for Coffs/Macquarie coasts

Why

A high over the Bight is extending a ridge across the state. Winds will turn onshore easterly from midweek onwards as a trough brushes the coast while the high moves through Tasmania and enters the Tasman Sea later in the week.

Where

On Tuesday on the entire coast (except for Byron) there will be seas of 1 metre to 1.5 m and southerly swells of 1.5 to 3 metres.

BOM has extended the warning for the Coffs and Macquarie coasts through to Wednesday, with seas of 1 m and swell 1.5 to 2.5 m. Swells will be mix of southerly and north-easterly.

BOM is warning that conditions may be more powerful than they appear and are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.

Swell period

Swell period will be 14 to 17 seconds.
