Applications are now open for two national team racing championships to be hosted by Spinnaker Sailing Club over back-to-back weekends in Spring 2024.

The RYA/BUSA Women's Team Racing Nationals will take place at the New Forest club on 16-17 March 2024, followed by the RYA National Team Racing Championship for the Prince Philip Trophy a week later on Saturday and Sunday 23-24 March.

Teams of six sailors will be battling it out in Firefly dinghies and both #rockupandrace championships are supported by the UK Team Racing Association, RYA, Spinnaker Sailing Club and kSail.

Spinnaker SC's Chief Instructor and Bosun James Oborne, who is busy organising both events, said: "We're very much looking forward to hosting this double fixture of awesome national team racing championships. With four universities and multiple schools regularly team racing at the club, we have great kit and an experienced team, and all the action happens two minutes from the shore making it ideal for really fast-paced and fun racing with a great atmosphere for spectators."

Women's Team Racing

Applications are already rolling in for the RYA Women's Team Racing National Championship incorporating BUSA Women's Team Racing National Championship.

An ideal warm up event for those wanting to then compete the following weekend in the RYA National Team Racing Championship at the same venue, 10 teams have already submitted their application to take part.

Would-be participants are invited to check out the Notice of Race and request an invitation as soon as possible and by no later than 1159 on Friday 16 February 2024.

Entry is £420 with up to 18 places available for teams of six female sailors from RYA Affiliated clubs, class associations and organisations, and/or university BUSA teams, sailing in Firefly dinghies.

The current title holders are Oxford Blue, who claimed victory over a breezy weekend at Rutland Sailing Club in 2023 to become both Women's and BUSA Team Racing National Champions.

Prince Philip Trophy

The RYA National Team Racing Championship 2024 for the Prince Philip Trophy will again be for teams of six sailors competing over a weekend of three-boat team racing.

Entry is £420 with up to 24 places available. Requests for an invitation to take part are open until 9am on Friday 2 February 2024 via the RYA online entry system for this event.

The current title holders are the West Kirby Hawks who retained their RYA/UKTRA National Team Racing Championship title to claim the Prince Philip Trophy for the seventh time in 2023 at Bough Beech Sailing Club in Kent.

As with the women's event, the defending title holders will receive an invite to the 2024 edition.
