Why
A trough over the state's south will move towards the northeast midweek, followed by a surge of southerly winds along the coast between Thursday and Friday. Then, a high moving into the Tasman will extend a ridge along the coast while an inland trough deepens, bringing northeasterly winds along the coast through the weekend.
Where
On Wednesday from Macquarie down to Batemans coasts there will be seas of 1 to 1.5 metres and mixed 2.5 metre swells from the south and (in Macquarie/Hunter waters) from the north east.
On Thursday on the Macquarie and Hunter coasts there will be seas of 1 metre and mixed 2 metre southerly and north-easterly swells.
Swell period
Swell period will be about 18 seconds on Thursday dropping down to 12 seconds on Thursday.
Warning
So, it doesn't look so bad at first glance but BOM is warning that on these waters on Wednesday and Thursday conditions will be dangerous for rock fishing and crossing bars.
