The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to strengthening the Coast Guard community and service by supporting members and families, announced today the Texas Salutes the Coast Guard event will be held Wednesday, November 8 at Marriott Marquis Houston, 1777 Walker Street in Houston. The event, which includes a reception and dinner, will begin at 6 p.m.

The annual Texas Salutes the Coast Guard event has highlighted the Coast Guard and maritime industry in the city since 2016. During the event Sector Houston Galveston will be recognized for mission excellence for two recent offshore rescues.

The Foundation will also honor the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), which has been a leader in maritime safety for more than 160 years. Founded in 1862, ABS is a global leader in providing classification services for marine and offshore assets. Through its wide-ranging impact on the maritime transportation system, ABS plays an important role in the uninterrupted flow of commerce on American waterways. The award will be accepted by ABS Chairman, President and CEO Chris Wiernicki.

The Texas Salutes the Coast Guard dinner brings together industry leaders, government officials, and U.S. Coast Guard members from the region and beyond to celebrate the missions and heroism of Coast Guard personnel. The Coast Guard's top national and regional leaders are scheduled to attend including the Commandant of the Coast Guard Admiral Linda Fagan, Vice Commandant of the Coast Guard Admiral Steve Poulin, and the commander of Coast Guard operations in the U.S. Gulf Coast and Heartland, Rear Admiral David Barata. Coast Guard personnel from the local area will also attend.

The Foundation is grateful to the many corporations and individuals who are sponsoring the event. Special thanks to major sponsors ABS, Cheniere, Chevron, and Kirby.

"Always an enjoyable event, we are excited to celebrate the annual Texas Salutes the Coast Guard," said Susan Ludwig, president, Coast Guard Foundation. "We look forward to celebrating the professionalism and dedication of Coast Guard members in the region, as well as ABS and the vital work both do safeguarding mariners."
