TARFish final scalefish position

TARFish final scalefish position © Rick Stuart-Smith, Reef Life Survey

Thanks to the hundreds of recreational fishers that provided feedback to the State Government's proposed scalefish changes and to our draft positions.

Our three key concerns are:

  1. Disenfranchisement of recreational fishers
  2. Impact on recreational fishing dependent businesses
  3. Scope of package is very restrictive with no communication and engagement on alternatives

We're encouraging the Government to give some relief by providing alternative fishing opportunities.

We have proposed a package of benefits for recreational fishers to off-set the serious impact these proposals would have.
