The 2023 Northeast Florida Wahoo Shootout, presented by Yellowfin, was truly one for the ages! This event is the largest wahoo tournament in the world, with 217 boats participating this year alone.
Five wahoo weighing over 100 pounds were brought to the scale, as well as many more weighing in at 70+, 80+, and 90+ pounds. The top headline from this year's event, though, was Captain Stewart Witt and team Git Witt It aboard their Yellowfin 36 Offshore, catching a monster 129.26-pound 'hoo and a 96.16-pounder on the last day of the tournament, on top of the 93.12-pound fish they had already weighed in earlier in the tournament. Now that's what we call coming through under pressure!
This impressive final-day haul propelled the squad to not only a dramatic and dominant victory over the rest of the field, but also the new tournament record for 3-fish aggregate weight by a significant margin at 318.54 pounds! We want to thank Yellowfin Ambassador Paul Dozier and his wife, Lauren, for their hard work in putting on such an awesome event every year!
Congratulations to team Git Witt It for their incredible victory, earning them a brand-new Yellowfin 21 Bay!
