ATL Composites introduces Epifanes Yacht Coatings at Australian Wooden Boat Festival

by ATL Composites 5 Feb 2023 11:33 UTC 10-13 February 2023

After a four-year wait, 500 vessels and 70 exhibitors are headed to the picturesque Hobart waterfront for the 2023 Australian Wooden Boat Festival, 10 to 13 February.

Show sponsor, ATL Composites is looking forward to attending the 2023 Australian Wooden Boat Festival, promoting the full range of WEST SYSTEM epoxy resins and accessories, and taking the opportunity to launch a new and exciting brand, the Epifanes Yacht Coatings range, to visiting wooden boat enthusiasts, both amateur and professional.

For over 120 years, Epifanes range of marine paint systems and products have been made in The Netherlands and are now available in more than 50 countries.

Known around the world and considered the ultimate in high gloss finish, the Epifanes Clear Varnish provides outstanding protection for all marine and household timbers and can be applied to interior and exterior woods above the waterline.

"We are thrilled to be representing Epifanes in Australia," states ATL Composites Director, Lorraine Duckworth.

"For over 43 years, ATL has been diligent in choosing to work with and distribute leading International brands of products that complement our various epoxy products - well known examples would be DIAB's Divinycell and ProBalsa core materials, Hawkeye Industries DURATEC range of Mould Surfacing products, and Coosa Composites BLUEWATER high density polyurethane panels.

"The Epifanes range of high-quality marine varnishes are used worldwide in conjunction with WEST SYSTEM epoxy, and the European Distributors of WEST SYSTEM products are all distributors of Epifanes. It's a successful and proven combination.

"We are looking forward to meeting our customers at the Wooden Boat Festival, hearing about their projects and introducing the Epifanes products."

The four-day Festival brings together the largest and most diverse collection of wooden boats in the southern hemisphere.

According to organisers, one of the biggest draw cards in 2023 are the 10 local and interstate Tall Ships berthed across Sullivan's Cove. Sailing trips are on offer as well as boat tours.

Then there's the famous Parade of Sail opening event, a showcase of 200+ wooden boats sailing across the River Derwent to enter the Festival site, the Derwent World Championships, the Ketch Review and much more.

The largest Huon Pine boat ever built will be on show at the 2023 AWBF, after a 20-year absence from the show. Dennison Star was built in 1968 by visionary naval architect Ray Kemp in Woodbridge, Tasmania after he famously sketched her design on the back of a cigarette packet.

AWBF General Manager, Paul Stephanus is thrilled to welcome back visitors after four years of disruption due to the pandemic.

"From the massive Tall Ships that line Hobart's wharfs, to the universe of tightly packed vessels on water and on land; from the families, businesses, artists, entertainers, and volunteers, to the beaming crowds of festival-goers from across the country. All of us, one and all, are lured in by this singular object - the Wooden Boat."
