Tranx is synonymous with power and dependability. Shimano designed the entire Tranx family for smooth and reliable performance, exceeding the expectations of every freshwater and saltwater angler.
Shimano expands the Tranx family of low-profile reels with the all-new Tranx 150 to meet the specific needs of Texas and Gulf Coast wading anglers with a versatile offering perfect for lighter inshore presentations. The smallest offering in the Tranx lineup, the Tranx 150 delivers the compact power and palmability of its larger counterparts while offering anglers enhanced durability and protection against the corrosive effects of saltwater.
A true workhorse, the Tranx 150 employs a HAGANE Body for extreme rigidity and impact resistance. The added durability of the all-metal HAGANE Body enhances reeling overall smoothness by housing the internal components within a body that resists flexing during tough battles. Now, every turn of the handle translates directly into cranking power.
Shimano's CoreProtect technology ensures that Tranx 150 is ready for many seasons of saltwater adventures. The concept of CoreProtect is simple: To provide water resistance without creating a heavy rotation feeling. A protective coating applied to critical areas, CoreProtect causes water to bead up and roll off the reel, reducing water - and salt - intrusion for added durability when chasing inshore game fish. With an inherent desire to be a glutton for punishment, the Tranx 150 boasts enhanced stopping power by utilizing Shimano's dependable Cross Carbon Drag. With up to 13 pounds of run-stopping power, Tranx 150's Cross Carbon Drag provides a broad range of settings for exceptionally smooth performance across the entire drag range. Anglers fighting inshore trophy game fish will now have the advantage in every battle.
The Tranx 150 combines two Shimano technologies to enable anglers to reach fish effectively at long distances and in challenging conditions. Super Free Spool technology eliminates friction on the spool shaft during the cast by supporting the pinion gear with a ball bearing to keep the pinion gear and spool shaft in perfect alignment. Less friction means that the spool spins more freely, resulting in longer, more effortless casts - especially with lightweight lures and live baits. The Tranx 150 features Shimano's newest innovation in brake system technology - SVS Infinity - which provides easy-to-manage, consistent spool control and brake force. With brake weights that use inner friction against the raceway during the cast, SVS Infinity controls spool speed for precision casting, especially when using lighter lures and baits favored by wading anglers. An external adjustment knob enables quick, precise brake force adjustments when changing presentations or managing variable winds
Anglers can harness the power of low-profile Tranx 150 in one of three gear ratios (6.3:1, 7.2:1, or 8.2:1) in right-hand retrieve reels that weigh 6.7 oz and hold 150 yards of 20-pound-test PowerPro; a left-hand retrieve option is available in the 7.2:1 gear ratio model. Tranx 150 is now available at Shimano authorized dealers with an MSRP of $209.99.
