In contrast to last year, the sun was shining and there was a decent breeze to greet the competitors for the penultimate event of the season. Including the four Nantwich boats there were 21 boats, with 24 sailors in total, keeping the tally above 20 boats for every event this year. The visitors were from 8 different clubs.

Solos and Supernovas were in the majority with Lasers, an Enterprise, Comets and Miracles making up the rest of the fleet.

Chris Yates, the OOD, and his team kept to the same course for the three races, one before lunch and two back-to-back after lunch. Despite warnings of low water and weed, this did not seem to affect the racing and all three races were keenly contested.

Dave Turtle had a brilliant first race in his Comet, beating the Supernovas of Pete Coop and Pete Chambers in second and third respectively.

Race two was won by Phil Snewin in front of the Supernovas of Eric Haselden and Phil Coop

Race three had an exciting finish with Eric Haselden just pipping Pete Coop at the line. Paul Scott in his Solo had a good third place.

Prizes were awarded the the first three places as well as the first double hander and the first local boat.

1st Eric Haselden - Supernova - Winsford Flash SC
2nd Pete Coop - Supernova - Winsford Flash SC
3rd Phil Snewin - Solo - Chester SC
1st Double Hander - Dave Thomas and Shan Stapley - Enterprise - Shotwick Lake SC
1st Home boat - Paul Scott - Solo Nantwich

The race team and galley were thanked for their efforts for what was agreed a good day's racing.

The next and final race in the 2022 will be at Winsford Flash on Tuesday September 27th.
