Ocean Legacy visits Jupiter, Florida
The Ocean Legacy film crew filmed the final episode of the 2022 season recently out of Jupiter, Florida.
John and Ben Dorton from Warbird Marine Holdings, Yellowfin's parent company, joined John and Ben Brownlee for what turned out to be an awesome father-and-son trip. We took advantage of some epic summer weather and some great fishing action as well.
Summertime means the snook are spawning in southeast Florida inlets, including the Jupiter and St. Lucie inlets, and we had a lot of fun catching and releasing those (the season is closed). We also got into a surprise summertime sailfish bite, and tied into a few other bonus species as well.
You can catch this exciting adventure and all the other great Ocean Legacy episodes Sundays mornings at 8:30 am Eastern time on The Discovery Channel, beginning September 25th! Here are some more shots from the trip.
First leg of the Yellowfin Cape Lookout Tournament Series is won on a Yellowfin
Captain Cameron Atkins and his crew aboard Raunchie Conch, a Yellowfin 32 Offshore, took top honors in the first leg of the Yellowfin Cape Lookout Tournament Series in May.
The Shootout has North and South divisions, with three tournament legs per division, and Atkins won the South Division's first leg and the $80,700 grand prize that came with it. Team Raunchie Conch weighed in a 43.69 pound king mackerel, beating the field by almost nine pounds to secure the win. Over $191,000 in prize money was paid out overall.
Yellowfin has been the Title sponsor since the tournament's inception in 2014, and the event has paid out $5.9 million in prize money in that time period. Congratulations to Cameron and Team Raunchie Conch!
