The Boat Works won two awards at the 2022 Australian Marine Industry Awards held on Wednesday 18 May at Southport Yacht Club.

Against strong competition, The Boat Works was awarded "Superyacht Service Provider of the Year", recognising The Boat Works' exceptional service to the superyacht industry during 2021.

Australia's largest and most environmentally-friendly yard, showed the consistent commitment to going the extra mile in the service and support of customers, tenants, contractors and visitors.

No other shipyard has delivered the level and extent of marine infrastructure that benefits not only the industry, but the economy of the entire region.

A fastidious attention to detail differentiates The Boat Works, along with a commitment to innovation and the aesthetic appeal of a luxury resort, rather than an industrial shipyard; from the manicured landscaping to the VIP Captain & Crew Lounge with the added benefits of the full array of onsite services.

Creating a 'Resort for your Boat'.

The all-inclusive and bespoke service leaves a lasting impression on Captains and Owners. "We have been most impressed with the extent of the attention to detail throughout the facility along with the high standards of cleanliness," said Owner of 37-metre Oceanfast, Sahana. "Impressive staff and overall facility, our yard of choice."

Combining all attributes of the comprehensive facility, the long-term staff and marine service providers on-site constantly set out to exceed customers' expectations. That dedication and culture are what truly give us the competitive advantage.

A family run business, the Longhursts have invested a great deal within the marine industry with Rodney Longhurst at Riviera and Tony at the helm of The Boat Works.

"A well-deserved award, we congratulate our highly skilled long-term team of women and men who have invested the care and genuine service in their day-to-day work; along with all our marine trade service partners' onsite that have collectively supported and excelled their level of service to all our customers," commented Tony Longhurst.

"It's wonderful to be recognised by our peers."

2021 welcomed many return customers, vessels including 41-metre superyacht, Batavia, which spent eight months in 2021 undertaking maintenance and refit work post-charter season. Captain and Crew enjoyed the use of The Boat Works' resort-style facilities and Concierge services.

"Having used numerous yards overseas, it has been a pleasure to be welcomed into a facility that is like a resort and meticulously clean with staff that care and go the extra mile," stated Captain M. Clatcher.

These relationships, repeat business and referrals are testament to the appeal of The Boat Works' unique service offerings.

The second Award was for "Superyacht Industry Project / Design or Manufacturer of the Year" for their contribution to a massive refit project on a 30-metre charter vessel in collaboration with on-site tenants, Ocean Degree Yacht Services, Stella Marine, ATL Composites, Marine Trade Supplies and Chandlery.

The project involved a major upgrade of a 'Stabiliser at Rest or STAR System' to the superyacht, which required complex reinforcing of the vessels hull through infusion, using the haul out, berthing and hardstand facilities of The Boat Works.

This ground-breaking project had only previously been undertaken once before in Australia and by the same expert team.

The vessel's Captain and owners were ecstatic with the work completed to deadline ahead of a busy charter season and the results.

Shane Subichin, General Manager at The Boat Works said both Awards were testament to the collaboration of the team at The Boat Works, their talented tenants and partners, and relationships with suppliers and contractors.

"The Service Award is a tribute to teamwork, owners, managers, staff and the vision of Tony Longhurst and his investment in the dedicated Superyacht facility," said Shane.

"The Project Award is a nod to our ethos of collaboration with a positive approach, skilled people and a passion for this industry that are characteristic of every project undertaken at The Boat Works to ensure the customer gets the best experience every time.

"We appreciate the judges' confidence in our facilities and our people and we'd like to thank ASMEX-Superyacht Australia for the honours. We also acknowledge the nominees and their commitment to innovation, ingenuity and progressing our industry."
