The final weekend of American Yacht Club Spring Series took place this past weekend with closely fought races for most fleets.
A veritable J/Navy showed up to sail in ORC/ PHRF handicap fleets and one-design fleets of J/44s, J/109s, and J/105s.
The five-boat J/44 Class saw close racing for the two weekends of sailing. Leading after the first weekend, Bill Ketcham's MAXINE team closed with a 2-4-2-1 for 10 pts for a repeat win of their class. Second was Tom Blackwell's BREAKAWAY with 14 pts. Then, rounding out the podium with the bronze medal was Don & Dick Rave's RESOLUTE by virtue of their stunning performance last weekend, posting a 1-1-1-2 for 17 pts.
The eight-boat J/109 Class John Greifzu's GROWTH SPURT continued there winning ways from the first weekend and barely squeeked by to win with 22 pts. Just two points back was Bud Roger's BIG BOAT with 24 pts and taking third was Trevor Roach's INCENDIARY with 27 pts.
The seven-boat J/105 Class was determined on a tie-breaker ta 13 pts each. Winning on countback was David Willis' SOLUTION over Paul Beaudin's LOU LOU. Third was Jason Barron's RAVEN with 22 pts.
In PHRF A class, Len Sitar's J/160 COUGAR climbed quickly into 2nd place after a strong showing over the weekend.
PHRF B class saw a huge shuffling in the standings. Taking the bronze was Todd Aven's J/99 THIN MAN with 13 pts. They were followed by Jason Viseltear's J/80 UPSETTER in fourth, EJ Haskell & Jim Weil's J/92 VIXEN in fifth, and Scott Devine's J/112E REVIVER in sixth place.
