The Bermuda Race Organizing Committee (BROC) welcomes KVH Industries, Inc., of Middletown, RI, as Official Connectivity Sponsor of the 635-mile Newport Bermuda Race.

The company's sponsorship of the event will enable competitors to transmit (to Race Media) their onboard experiences as they near and cross the Gulf Stream.

With their satellite partner Intelsat, KVH is providing a special discount on satellite antenna systems, plus a complimentary connectivity package for registered KVH participants of this year's race so they can stay connected the entire way. KVH will also host an educational, hands-on session with participants during registration week prior to the start on June 17, 2022. KVH has a long history with the race, with the company's founders participating in more than a dozen Newport Bermuda Races in past years.

Somers Kempe, Chairman of the 2022 Bermuda Race Organizing Committee said, "I'm excited to have an innovative company such as KVH join our line-up of supporting sponsors. Their history with the Newport Bermuda Race brings a wealth of understanding to why we compete and the importance of excellent communication while we do it. "

"KVH is thrilled to be the Official Connectivity Sponsor of the 2022 Newport Bermuda Race and we know how important connectivity is to the sailors competing in the race," says Jim George, KVH's vice president for global leisure sales. "For years, we have watched the demand increase for satcom systems on all kinds of boats because people want to stay connected while on the water."

The added connectivity for this race will make available in real time some of the exciting dimensions of being onboard during the "Thrash to the Onion Patch." Whether the user/correspondent is watch captain, navigator, cook, or one of the 36+ "environmental stewards" who have been named on crew rosters this year, we can expect compelling content from video and photos to live reports with topics that range from life on board to first-hand observations about ocean health.
