In just five days, on the 3rd October, Barton Marine team member Darren Tuff will become the first ever Barton Pulley Block to run the London Marathon. He is taking on this gruelling task in aid of "Wednesday Junior Sailing" aiming to raise as much money as possible to help encourage young people out onto the water to learn to sail and develop new life skills.
Wednesday Junior Sailing is an award-winning scheme, run as a community programme by the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, to encourage children to learn sailing, rowing and basic seamanship.
Donate now via Just Giving to help him raise £3000. Click the following link to visit the just giving page - www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/barton-wjs. Every pound will make a difference and is hugely appreciated.
Children come from all types of local and home schools to attend the Wednesday afternoon experience and training sessions. Since 1984, Wednesday Junior Sailing has enabled all local children over the age of 8 to experience water sports in a safe, managed environment. The afternoon summer sessions are very popular, each typically attracting over 100 children across 2 afternoon sessions who learn to sail with special instruction and a the fleet of dinghies all provided by exceptional volunteers.
Suzanne Blaustone, Barton Marine CEO said, "Running the London Marathon is no easy feat- but try doing it in a Barton Block costume! Darren is helping to raise funds to ensure these great kids from every background have the opportunity to experience sailing and water sports. Every Fiver counts!! Please give a little or a lot - but help us keep these kids on the water!"
