Victorian marine industry dynasty, Streaker Marine, owned by the Savage family will become leading Australian luxury motor yacht manufacturer Maritimo's Consultants in the southern state from this month.

With a history stretching back to 1973 when it manufactured Streaker Boats, Streaker Marine, has a proud track record in the Victorian boating sector with its Bayswater retail facility recognised as one of the best in the industry. The company was established by brothers Paul and Leon Savage in 1973

The family owned operation has evolved from a manufacturer of high-quality fibreglass trailer boats in the 1970's to a full-service retail brokerage representing such signature brands as Quintrex, Yamaha, Cruise Craft and Yellowfin Plate Boats. Streaker Marine has been awarded Quintrex boat's most successful dealer and Yamaha Platinum dealer accolades for many years.

The business is owned and operated by industry stalwarts Paul Savage and his sons Paul Junior and Sean who between them bought out Leon's share of the business in 2017.

Streaker Marine is widely recognized throughout Victoria as one of the industry's most professional and successful full-service brokerage and retail outlets.

Maritimo's Australasian Sales Manager, Ormonde Britton said the company was delighted to welcome Streaker Marine aboard.

"They have a customer focused reputation which is without peer in their market and that fits perfectly with the Maritimo ethos," he said.

"There is also the long family lineage which mirrors the Maritimo story so there are some real synergies. "The Savage family lives and breathes boats and they will be the perfect ambassadors for our brand in the Victorian market."

Like Maritimo founders, the Barry-Cotter family, the Savages have a history of competitive racing. Their interest being waterskiing with the Barry-Cotter's being at the top of the offshore powerboat racing world for decades.

"We have always admired what the Barry-Cotters have achieved in our industry and it will be an honour to represent Maritimo here in Victoria and Tasmania," said Sean.

"We have always been involved in boats and while Streaker Boats, and more recently Streaker Marine, have primarily been active in the smaller trailer boat sector we as a family have always had big boats and spent most of our holidays onboard.

"We have watched the Maritimo brand evolve over years and looked at how they do things at boat shows and in terms of their customer focus generally and we believe they are a great fit for us.

"They produce a world class product which is marketed by a world class team and we can't wait to be part of that story.

"When Leon retired in 2017 and Paul Junior and I bought into the business, we had a strategic plan to grow and evolve our brand. "By teaming up with Maritimo we move a significant way further down that path."

Sean Savage said the luxury motor yacht sector in Victoria represented a significant opportunity. He said it was a sector that while large in size had been under serviced for many years.

Streaker Marine is in the process of purchasing a Maritimo luxury motor cruiser and will use that vessel as a moveable sales centre around the Victorian waterfront.

"We will have the boat at various marinas around Victoria and co-ordinate a series of intimate VIP briefings and showings to our customer base and the broader luxury motor yacht sector generally," said Sean.

"Our Bayswater facility will still be our main HQ, but we will be extending our presence around key waterfront locations with the new boat," he said.

Ormonde Britton said the appointment of Streaker Marine further cemented Maritimo's Australian and New Zealand Consultancy network as a market leader. "For us it is all about the customer experience and the Savage family will help us deliver further in that quest," he said.
