And the beat goes on. With restrictions tightened across the whole of Australia the demand for boats and boating continues to build and hopefully we will all be able to get back on the water before long.

With the environment being high on the discussion table with governments globally, one Australian business has revealed its contribution to lower emissions. The Boat Works can lay claim to being the country's cleanest and greenest shipyard, investing in and implementing innovative technology and stringent processes in place to protect the land, air and water.

Comprising resort-style lawns, mature palms for shade, low maintenance cactus gardens and rows of citrus trees, the entire 55-acre facility - comprising the original southern yard and the purpose-built superyacht yard - was designed to capture, recycle and reuse the precious resource of water. The Boat Works has the capacity to store over one million litres of rainwater for site cleaning. In the Superyacht yard, water is treated using the Australian-made Fox Evo-Systems, a three-stage process that aids in stormwater diversion and wastewater treatment.

Also from Queensland, shorter waiting times for some marine and recreational products will be just one of the benefits resulting from a consortium having purchased all of the unsold stock, as well as some other assets, from Arnold's Boat Shop. The unsold stock had been sitting in a warehouse in Sydney. Customers also can expect a wider range of marine and recreational products, a more efficient online purchasing and delivery system, better communication and greater discounts on some lines, as a result of the acquisitions.

The consortium of established marine retailers purchased the unsold stock as well as some other remnants of Arnold's Boat Shop, including its website domain, from Worrells Solvency & Forensic Accountants. Creditors elected Worrells on May 21, 2021 to be the official liquidators of Nold Trading Pty Ltd (the operator of Arnold's Boat Shop), following Worrells' earlier appointment as administrator of Arnold's.

The pursuit of alternate marine power goes on unabated. It will last a lifetime without maintenance, is four times more efficient than the best electric outboards and makes for a totally silent boat ride. With the launch of the Candela C-Pod boat motor, the Swedish marine tech company Candela is aiming to disrupt boating as we know it. The company claims that combustion engine outboards are noisy, require expensive maintenance, cost a small fortune to run and emit more CO2 per kilometre than most road vehicles.

All this is set to change with the revolutionary Candela C-Pod, an electric pod drive developed by Europe's leading electric boat manufacturer, the Stockholm-based tech firm Candela. What would be the best boat propulsion one could imagine? Here are some ideas: electric, completely silent, without oil changes and with an almost unlimited lifetime. Add to that almost no losses - converting most of the energy to thrust, says Gustav Hasselskog, Candela's Founder and CEO.

New boats this week includes Beneteau and Invincible Boats. The new Oceanis 34.1 is sleeker, lighter, has more sail area and more space in the bow for the owner's cabin (than its predecessor): the latest collaboration between Marc Lombard for naval architecture and NAUTA Design for the deck plan and layouts of the new Oceanis 34.1 is, quite simply, superb! One glance shows that the La Rochelle-based architect has surpassed himself with this flared hull design that provides greater interior space for a spacious cabin (fore) combined with a hull with a long chine going aft that ensures guests a high-quality cruising experience.

These architectural choices give this seventh generation of Oceanis yachts a strong identity that is equally remarkable when under sail - slender waterline entries, a lower angle of heel and a hull resting on the chine for greater comfort on the water.

Fishos will welcome the new Invincible 10m catamaran. The Invincible Boat Company, the premium saltwater sport fishing and high-performance boat brand headquartered in Florida, has added to its line-up with the launch of the new 10m catamaran. The boat was introduced to customers at a booked out three-day event in Miami, where an extra date had to be added due to the high demand for sea trials. The team at Invincible felt the time was right to fill out its catamaran line-up to match its selection of monohulls. Invincible's current product portfolio includes nine semi-custom models ranging from 33' (10m) to 46' (14m) in both monohull and catamaran designs. With a raft of announcements expected in the coming months, the range will be further extended.

As we include more news from our immediate neighbours, New Zealand is proud to spruik its industry achievements. The ocean has been a natural playground for generations of New Zealanders. With over a third of the population participating in boating each year, coupled with their undeniable love for the sea, New Zealanders are true marine enthusiasts. It is a mindset that has contributed to New Zealand's long legacy of innovation in the industry. New Zealanders were first in the world to pioneer the development of water jet propulsion, and the first to develop the technology to transform all-terrain vehicles into ocean-going speed boats. Additionally, they discovered coatings to improve boat speed, fuel efficiency, and systems to keep people and property safe.

This world-leading technology is the result of New Zealand's marine industry: the largest and most specialized manufacturing industry in the country. The industry extends beyond manufacturing, touching research and education, specialized products manufacturing, construction, as well as tourism industries. New Zealand's marine industry currently totals $2 billion NZD in sales and employs over 10,000 people and it is forecasted to double in size over the next 10 to 15 years.

Stay safe,
