This year saw the 72nd edition of North West Norfolk Week take place having lost only last year's sailing in its history.

The racing this year was split into four fleets comprising, National 12s, OKs (making a welcome return for the first time for some years), Allcomers 1 and Allcomers 2 with a total of 57 boats taking part at some stage during the week.

Racing kicked off at the Ouse Amateur Sailing Club based at Saddlebow this year in moderate breeze with sailing taking place both days of the first weekend before the fleet headed along the coast.

The sailors then headed to Wells for an early Monday start with a forecast of little wind which proved the case. After the fleets made it to the starting area with a little help of a tow against the tide, racing eventually got under way when a slight breeze filled in to get the race in.

Then it was off to Blakeney for two days racing this year which saw the first day see the fleets covering most corners of Blakeney on day 1 in a light to moderate wind then day 2 with the breeze strengthening a shorter course was used with more laps.

Wednesday night saw the sailors checking the various wind forecasts for Thursday at Overy looking for a forecast that would be low enough to get afloat! As it turned out the wind predictions were correct with only a few mad OK sailors and a couple of Allcomers making the start line and with the OKs doing the wrong course was left to the Allcomers to pick up the results.

Finally, it was off to Snettisham for two days champagne sailing off the beach to end the event with four races to complete the series.

After two years away this unique week still did not disappoint!
