National 12 Virtual Talk: How to get the best out of your N12 © National 12 Class

With fully adjustable rigs, personalisation, and unique setups, the National 12 can often appear daunting for first time helm and crews. In this online session, some of our class experts discussed 7 main areas to focus on to improve your National 12 sailing.

From rig setup to understanding how the sails work to getting mark roundings correct, this short talk has something for every National 12 sailor, from seasoned pro to first time N12 sailor.

The 7 areas covered were:

  1. On The Beach - Set up the most likely upwind mast rake / bend setting for the day.
  2. On The Water - Sail upwind and check the mast rake / bend settings and adjust as required (and how do we decided)
  3. Trim, Trim, Trim
  4. Kicker, Kicker, Kicker
  5. Sheet the jib!
  6. Windward Mark Process
  7. Leeward Mark Process

This talk will be a sure way to improve your National 12 sailing and we look forward to seeing you out on the water across the country this season!

Happy Sailing!
