Five Gold Anchors have been awarded to the stunning, boutique Koolewong Marina located in the Brisbane Water on the NSW Central Coast. This Global accreditation bestowed by the Marina Industries Association (MIA) is one of the highest accolades that the industry awards and is reserved for marinas which offer their customers consistently high standards of service and facilities.

Less than three years old, Koolewong Marina's bespoke design features complement the National Park setting and as an accredited Level 3 International Clean Marina, demonstrates its commitment to environmental care and improvement. The marina has integrated public boardwalks and native landscaping into its sympathetic design and provides the local community with a place to gather and enjoy the vista of Murphy's Bay. The multi award winning Boathouse Restaurant is on site and has been a local landmark for years providing marina customers and the local community with an expansive food and beverage offering. Live music on a Sunday afternoon creates a wonderful community ambiance.

The marina is owned by Les Binkin and Symantha Suprain. Les was at the marina to receive the award which was presented by the MIA President Andrew Chapman. In presenting the award Andrew commented, "5 Gold Anchor is a very high achievement for marinas. Normally, only 10% of the marinas involved in the program reach this standard, the auditor was very impressed with the operation and the management team, Koolewong Marina should be very proud of this achievement."

In further explaining the detail of the program, Andrew Chapman went on to say, "The Global Gold Anchor rating system is designed to provide boat owners and marina users with an easy reference system like hotel star ratings. Marinas are independently assessed against 86 criteria which cover management processes, the condition and maintenance of the marina, environmental practices and the ancillary facilities and services. The assessment also involves an anonymous customer survey to further ensure it delivers on its promises."

In accepting the award, Koolewong Marina owner Les Binkin said, "Sym and I are very proud of how the Marina has developed from a green fields site to a full-service marina, we have some great boats out there, so a huge thanks to all our clients, I'd also especially like to thank all of our staff, both old and new, who have contributed so much to achieving such a high standard."

Koolewong Marina is sister site to the Marmong Point Marina an established 245 berth marina at the northern end of Lake Macquarie. David Randall is the General Manager of both marinas and explained, "Our Koolewong Marina customers are extended the full services of a working marina, travel lift and on-site trades at our Marmong Point site. They receive preferential pricing and availability, and we will assist the owners with the short delivery to The Lake".

Koolewong Marina has 50 berths and caters for a wide range of yachts up to 30 metres. It is a short 10-minute walk to the town of Woy Woy. Koolewong is a great destination and easily accessible from Lake Macquarie to the north and at only 13 nm from Broken Bay and 18 nm from Sydney Harbour offers an easy journey from the south.
