It is with the deepest regret that we have decided that, as was the case for the Swiftsure International Yacht Race in 2020, the race will not be run in 2021.
After careful consideration by members of the Swiftsure Committee and the Board of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, it was determined that it was in everyone's best interest to cancel this year's event as a result of a significant probability that public health restrictions due to COVID-19 will be such that it will not be possible to run the event in a manner that will preserve the events long standing integrity. The risks associated with transmission of the virus to participants, to our many supporters, and to our volunteers continues to be too great, given the serious attention of our governments and health authorities.
Thank you again to all our supporters, sponsors and volunteers who have been working in preparation for the 2021 event as well as those competitors who have been eagerly anticipating an event in 2021.
Please visit our website, from time to time and especially in the lead up to the last weekend in May 2021 when we plan to present Swiftsure related information and/or activities to ensure the event is not forgotten. We are looking forward to seeing everyone, in person in 2022 for the 77th
running.
