As overexploited fisheries collapsed in other parts of the world, foreign fishing fleets started coming to waters of African countries to take advantage of their rich fishing grounds. The economic resources of many of these countries are stretched to address the IUU fishing.

That's why Sea Shepherd must ensure that we are ready to directly combat these threats. In fact, our vessels and crews are preparing M/Y Bob Barker and M/Y Sam Simon for the waters off West Africa, which is plagued by illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
