Day three of the Windsurfer Nationals at Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club saw light winds and beach goers aplenty to start the Australia Day long weekend.
The windsurfers had to share the beach with the park run, life saving carnivals, ocean swimming races and regular beach goers.
However all had ample room to start the day due to the small puffs of breeze offering very little in terms of racing opportunities.
The heavyweights were sent out early to test the waters and manages to get through the majority of their slalom heats before the wind dropped out completely round midday.
With the forecast not looking promising an impromptu SUP race pitting states versus states was organised. Seven legs per six person team including one double hander and a beer at the club were required to win.
In true windsurfer fashion antics were aplenty with the final leg leaders requiring bodyguards to push through to the finish.
Out of nowhere a light seabreeze lofted in around 3pm allowing all divisions to almost complete their slalom races with an additional course race for some as well. The final day will see the freestyle in the morning followed by the marathon to end a great four days if competition in Seacliff.
