Entries are now open and the countdown is on until the Keeley Marine Supplies 52nd Marlay Point Overnight Race (MPONR), which will take place on March 7, 2020. This iconic annual event starts at sunset and sees a large fleet of mono and multihull trailer sailors racing through the night from Lake Wellington to Paynesville.

Entries are made online via MPONR.com or click here.

MPONR is regarded as Australia's premier race for trailable yachts and multi-hulls, about 4000 boats and 11,000 sailors have been involved over the past 51 years, making the Overnight Race a must-do on every trailer sailors bucket list.

This is the longest running overnight race in the country with around 150 boats expected to enter again for the 52nd race.

This event attracts trailable yachts from QLD, NSW VIC, ACT, SA and Tasmania along with international crews that seem to pop in each year.

Sailing at night is a wonderful experience and helps to hone your navigation skills, what better way than under the watchful eyes of the Coast Guard and the safety of the organisation of a race committee.

It's a fantastic experience. First of all, sailing at night is an experience in itself. Secondly, to experience the beautiful Gippsland Lakes, as the sun goes down and then to navigate across Lake Wellington, through the narrows at night and then watch the sun come up as you sail into Lake Victoria is an amazing experience, one not to be missed.

In 2020, the MPONR runs a week after the third-ever Paynesville Classic Boat Rally, held on Feb 28th to March 1st. The interest shown in both events has been outstanding, with boats coming from far and wide to rally and race on the beautiful Gippsland Lakes.

The Gippsland Lakes is a boaties paradise, so what better time to make a holiday of it, come along and enjoy the lakes while attending these two great events on the water.
