The Wetsuit Outlet 2019 UK Moth Nationals are taking place at Castle Cove Sailing Club between 12th & 15th September. The entry has been capped at 75 boats, with pre-entry essential as we don't want to risk turning travellers away on the day.
Twelve races are planned across the four days of racing in Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay, the same waters which hosted the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition, and will, more importantly for the flying fleet of foilers, host the 2020 Moth World Championship - there is simply no better way to prepare for next year's Worlds.
The Moth class is legendary for its fast-paced racing but known equally for its camaraderie off the water. In the dinghy park the word 'bimbling' has been taken to new levels, accompanied by the constant buzz of an orchestra of Dremels, while in the bar the sailors talk about nearly every subject under the sun and how it impacts on foiling. To this end evening meals and socials have been organised for all three nights at Castle Cove.
But that's not all...
- Every morning a breakfast buttie and coffee will be provided courtesy of Maguire Boats.
- Pasta and beer thanks to the generosity of the Rutland Moth Squad will refresh sailors straight after coming off the water.
- World-class media coverage, including stunning videos, a plethora of pictures and comprehensive reports, concentrating on the thoughts of the sailors themselves, will be provided by Beau Outteridge and Mark Jardine.
- An incredible £2000 worth of prizes are available thanks to Allen Brothers and the title sponsor Wetsuit Outlet.
- Exocet builder Maguire Boats will be on hand to service and repair boats throughout the event.
Own a Moth and thinking of not going to the Nationals? You either have your own wedding to attend (bad scheduling if that's the case) or need to take a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror.
Paul Williams, Managing Director of Wetsuit Outlet had these words to say about their title sponsorship of the event:
"Wetsuit Outlet is delighted to return this year, growing our sponsorship to be the lead sponsor of the Moth Nationals. As the largest online retailer of premium performance sailing brands, such as Zhik and Gill, it's a perfect association to be involved in the all-action Moth class.
"Over the last 14 years Wetsuit Outlet has grown to be Europe's biggest dinghy and yacht sailing retailer, supporting everyone from the leisure sailer to the serious racer, by offering the best customer service and next day delivery from our extensive stock.
"Good luck to everyone racing at the Moth Nationals and have a great event."
IMCA UK (the UK Moth Class Association for those not into acronyms) is fortunate to have the support of some key sponsors who we'd like to thank individually below:
We'll see you all at Castle Cove in September, and for those who aren't (yet) Moth sailors, you'll be able to follow the action daily through the comprehensive coverage.
All IMCA UK members from 2018 and 2019 will receive a link to enter the championship. All others should email for details.
