C-MAP releases Alabama Precision Contour HD Chart Card

by Andrew Golden 18 Oct 2018 05:29 UTC

C-MAP, a leader in digital marine cartography and cloud-based mapping, announced today the release of the first offering in its all-new series of digital fishing map cards, Precision Contour HD – Alabama. After an extensive survey campaign by C-MAP staff, the new card features highly detailed 1-foot contours, high-resolution satellite imagery and C-MAP's one-of-a-kind Custom Color Depth Shading, as well as fishing and navigational Points of Interest. The card is exclusive to chartplotters in the Navico portfolio of brands (Lowrance, Simrad and B&G), to which C-MAP was recently added.

"We're excited to release Precision Contour HD-Alabama, the first of our eye-popping new state mapping cards," said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. "Thanks to the tireless work of our talented survey crews, anglers can now enjoy comprehensive one-foot-contour chart coverage on their Lowrance and Simrad units. Today's Precision Contour HD card release is the first, with many more cards to come for all the best fishing lakes, river and reservoirs in the top fishing states in the country."

The C-MAP survey fleet includes shallow-draft boats with surface-drive motors, enabling comprehensive coverage of every popular and important fishery in each state covered. Surveyed coverage includes most of the skinniest distant creek arms and shallowest backwaters, as well as key, fish-holding offshore structure like humps and holes, reefs and shoals, ledges and breaklines, sunken islands and points.

Precision Contour HD charts also feature C-MAP's Custom Color Depth Shading* functionality, which enables anglers to highlight specific areas of interest, including current fish-holding depths and potential hazard areas. Custom Color Depth Shading also enables adjustments to the chart display to reflect high- or low-water conditions that can affect the shape and edges of shorelines and submerged or partially submerged structures. Additional map-display features include four pre-set, depth-shading palettes, including Safety Shading.

"Fish-holding structure will be much more visible when set apart by our Custom Color Depth Shading," Ottoson said. "You can select from 16 colors to highlight as many as 10 customized depth ranges. And you can set two separate custom-color depth palettes for every map. Anglers fishing for both largemouth and smallmouth or spotted bass on the same waterbody will especially love this feature."

The Precision Contour HD – Alabama chart cardcontains the following C-MAP-surveyed waterbodies, as well astraditional data on 60+ other lakes in Alabama.

  • Alabama River
  • Lake Guntersville
  • Lake Jordan
  • Lay Lake
  • Lewis Smith Lake
  • Logan Martin Lake

  • Neely Henry Lake
  • Pickwick Lake
  • Weiss Lake
  • Wheeler Lake
  • Wilson Lake
