Delta "T" Systems - Engine room ventilation hidden within glass table

When the owner of the 40m Abeking and Rasmussen M/Y Lady Laura noted that two air boxes on the aft sun deck took up space better used for entertaining, Capt. Michael Auer came up with a unique solution.

He engineered a 1.5m x 3.6m glass and stainless steel bar-height table supported by air intakes with custom moisture eliminators from Delta "T" Systems, global leader in state-of-the-art marine ventilation. The result provides seating with clear, panoramic views above the weather bulwarks and delivers massive supplies of fresh, dry air for optimal engine performance.

"We replaced the existing Peerless units with Delta "T" moisture eliminators and the results have been very good," said Auer. "Their products deliver exemplary quality and performance, and are the industry standard." Auer has retro-fitted a number of vessels he captained with Delta "T" equipment, including a specialized custom one-off high-speed motoryacht.

Delta "T" Systems Moisture Eliminators are a critical element of a well-designed engine room ventilation system, like Lady Laura's. Using proprietary vanes, they remove 97% of salt and water from the intake air, enhancing combustion and reducing maintenance costs. They're so effective, they create particle separation to 10–20µ, without inhibiting flow or excessive pressure drop. They're offered in black or white polypropylene, PVC and aluminum, with face, bottom or sump drains. Heated and chilled models are available.

Lady Laura's table is unlike any other. It features hand-textured 19mm Onami Crystal™ surface sculpted glass from Duncan Glass. RGB LED-illuminated, it resembles chipped ice or quarried stone. Auer designed several pieces of furniture for the vessel, including the salon and sun deck bars.

Michael Auer holds a USCG Master 1,600/3,000 GRT license. When not captaining the Lady Laura, he runs Michael Auer Design. The company specializes in functional, illuminated art furniture for yachts, and residential and commercial spaces. His website is www.michaelauerdesign.com.
