The Australian Sailing Squad's Zoe Thomson has claimed victory at the NSW Metropolitan Championship, held at Drummoyne Sailing Club on the weekend.

Thomson - who last year won the Australian Women's Laser Radial national title and was named Western Australian Youth Sailor of the Year - scored three bullets in the five races, a second and a discarded fourth.

Thomson claimed the title from second-placed Australian Sailing Squad teammate Elyse Ainsworth and Ainsworth's sister, Jacinta, who came third in the 34-boat fleet.

"We are in a long phase of preparation towards our next bigger regattas starting in June," Australian Sailing's Laser Radial team coach Jared West said.

"It's great to support our domestic events and enjoy some tight racing in a complex venue."
