Foxer Interstellar Cup at Hamble River Sailing Club

by Malcolm Donald 20 Jun 2011 17:22 UTC 18-19 June 2011

While racing was called off in the central Solent the Hamble River S C Foxer fleet was able to run two of their championship races within the confines of the river in a westerley breeze that gusted 25 knots and at times in torrential rain.

The two day event saw a lighter westerly breeze on the Sunday when all the schedules races were sailed. Heather Ross took the ladies prize while yet again it was Ian Southworth who led the 30 boat fleet onto the Sunday evening prizegiving podium. As John Duff the Foxer class captain and event PRO said, "Ian is in a class of his own when racing the ever popular Foxer dinghy."
